Bret Gilmour Named Goalie Skills Director

With great pleasure, the Boston Junior Rangers announce Bret Gilmour as our Goalie Skills Director.

 

Bret Gilmour is in his 9th season coaching (5th with BHA). Since the conception of the Boston Hockey Academy, Bret has served as the Director of Performance Psychology and Goaltending Development. 

 

Currently, Bret serves as the Director of Performance Psychology for the Men’s Hockey Program and the Women’s Hockey Team Goaltending Coach at Boston University (2021-Current). In his time with Boston University, Bret accomplished 2 NCAA Final Four appearances, a Hockey East Championship, and a Hockey East Regular Season Championship on the Men’s side. He has produced three national team goalies in three seasons on the Women’s side. Previously, Bret was Director of Performance Psychology and Video Coordinator at Harvard University from 2018-2021. During his time at Boston University and Harvard University, Bret has worked with 33 NHL Draft Picks. He has served as an evaluator for USA Hockey since 2017.

 

Bret Gilmour’s commitment to the field of sports psychology is evident in his diverse roles. He is a director at Stop It Goaltending and the founder of The Pegasus Consulting group, which he established in 2022. His academic journey includes a psychology degree specializing in Neuropsychology and Sport Psychology from Canisius, followed by a master’s in counseling with a focus on sports psychology from Boston University.

 

A native of Ontario and former Junior and NCAA goaltender, Gilmour began his coaching career immediately after graduating from Canisius. In the 2023-2024 season, Bret achieved the 300-game milestone in the NCAA.
