December Update
The Rangers had an eventful December. Every team celebrated their holiday parties this past week. The 2015s, 2014s, and 2013s had a combined party at the Elks Lodge after their Friday night skills session. The 2012s, 2011s, and 2010s had a holiday-themed practice with competitive games, and the 2012s had a gift swap after practice! Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season!
Below are some highlights from each team during the month of December:
2015s: The 2015s came ready to play against the Warriors in game one this past weekend and handled business with a 9-2 team win.
2014s: The 2014s had themselves a weekend. They played the first-place team in our division and held on for 2 strong periods. They were hungry come Sunday when we took down the 1st place team in the division above. Coaches could not be prouder of these boys coming together and giving everything they have put on the ice all weekend. Great weekend boys!!
Opponent: Seahawks
Score: 8-7 W
2013s: The team traveled to Rodman Arena to play the Express, the effort was there from the initial faceoff to the final whistle. Chris Freeman opened the scoring on a nice wrap-around eleven minutes into the first period. At 5:13 in the second period, Lucas Wolcott passed it from the point to Logan Leo sitting just outside the crease, who quickly found the back of the net. Luis Sena got the final goal with one minute left in the game on an empty netter. The defense played great in front of David LaPointe who got his third shutout of the year.
2012s: The 2012s had a solid weekend of hockey. Picking up a nice W on Saturday! Teddy Sullivan had a strong game in goal, making timely saves and offensive contributions came from Declan, Nico, Jake, and Makani. It was a good confidence booster for the team and made positive strides with our team play! The 12s brought that to Sunday’s contest vs the Giants, a heated rival of the Rangers for the last 2 seasons. Both teams brought their A-game and it was an epic battle and a great contest to coach & watch. The game ended in a 2-2 tie with both teams leaving it all on the ice! It was the best game the 2012 Rangers played all year as a team! The puck-moving was solid, with great penalty killing, good team defense and improvement on the power play. Timely goals by Gino and Makani with Zach playing a great game in goal! The 12s hope to carry that momentum into their games this coming weekend.
Opponent: Game 1: Icemen, Game 2: 95 Giants
Score: Game 1: 5-1 W, Game 2: 2-2 T
2011s: The 2011s are playing some of their best hockey and it shows with their record: 16 wins 1 loss. Balanced scoring, and stellar defense from all players help to push the winning streak each weekend. The boys continue to play as a team, physically, and in unselfish ways which contributes to their winning streak.
2010s: Couple tight games with top teams in our league. Some solid goaltending from both Landon and Matty continues to keep us in close games. Just need to work on some more offense and more wins will come.
2009 Blue: Solid play from the 2009 Blue team as we head into the winter schedule. Great win vs the NE Knights, 5-0 W final score!
2009 White: 2009 White BJR team played well today from start to finish. They moved the puck well between the zones and played tough down low in front of the Wizard’s net for the win. James Savoie also had a solid performance and kept us in the game through the 3 periods of play. Score was tied deep in the 3rd period (2:30 left on the clock), BJR’s are on the PK (5 vs 4) and Jace Periera makes a “through the legs” pass out of the BJR zone and up to Sam Parrella on the Red Line boards. Sam makes a center-ice pass to Justin Ferraro who is getting into the rush and walks into the ECW zone, tees up a rifle, and sends the puck into the top corner. Justin Ferraro (1x assisted by Jamie Schutzbank, game-winner).
