Geordan Murphy Named 2016 Head Coach
The Boston Junior Rangers are proud to announce Geordan Murphy as our 2016 Head Coach!
Geordan began his career as a goaltender in New Jersey, playing youth hockey at the AAA level for the NJ Rockets and NJ Devils. Murphy led the Devils to a bronze medal at the 2001 Midget AAA Nationals. He earned All-State honors and two overall NJ State Championships at Seton Hall Prep, before moving on to play prep school hockey at Choate. He was recruited by Division I Bentley University where he played for four years, earning some significant wins for the program at the time.
After hanging up his pads at the end of his career at Bentley, Geordan stayed close to the game as a referee and linesman. Murphy officiated up to the Junior A and Division I college levels for several years, before settling down and starting a family. Geordan is a level II certified coach with USA Hockey, has worked as a goalie coach throughout his career, and most recently coached his son Benjamin’s mite team. He currently resides in nearby Andover, spending most of his free time at the rink and at his daughter, Cameron’s, gymnastics meets.
We are excited to have you a part of the Rangers, Geordan!
